In 2024, a new state-of-the-art Hitachi HT7800 series transmission electron microscope was installed.
The main features of the equipment include high contrast and high resolution, full section series navigation mapping, automated 3D tomographic imaging, position alignment, and 3D volume reconstruction, as well as automatic particle detection and size classification. The new microscope will be used to investigate the anatomical properties of nanometre-scale cell structures of nerve tissue samples and the synaptic connections between individual nerve cells.
