About us
The Light Microscopy Core Facility of the Institute of Experimental Medicine has existed since spring 2010. The facility is specialised in light microscopy imaging and provides a wide spectrum of optical microscopes and software analysis tools. The Center is open to all scientists from the Institute and their collaborating partners.
The Light Microscopy Facility provides training and consultation on the use of widefield fluorescence, confocal and superresolution microscopes, automated slide scanners, and software analysis tools. There are several options for confocal and superresolution microscopy of fixed or live samples, including Nikon Ti A1R Confocal, Nikon Ni C2 Confocal, Nikon Ti N-STORM, Nikon Ti2 STORM, Nikon Fn1 A1R Multiphoton Microscope and Abberior Instruments Facility Line STED Microscope. We have PerfectFocus and on-stage incubators for long term live cell imaging. These instruments run using NIS Elements software platform for image capture and 2D and 3D analysis of image data. The Abberior Instruments Facility Line STED Microscope runs using Abberior's Lightbox and Imspector softwares. We have two 3DHISTECH Pannoramic MIDI slidescanners with 5x/10x/20x/40x lenses. In addition the Center provides researchers with two remote-access Analysis computers one of which is for Huygens Deconvolution.
We use the Zimbra calendar for scheduling bookings. The research groups/users are charged on the basis of bookings in the calendar.

Please arrange for a training appointment with the core staff to become approved to use the instruments. Instruments are available 24/7 to appropriately experienced users.
