Erik Hrabovszky wins the Flerkó-Bárdos-Medal

Tuesday, 4 July, 2023

The high quality of endocrinological research at our institute is reflected by the fact that Erik Hrabovszky is the third member of our staff to receive the prestigious Flerkó-Bárdos Memorial Medal in the senior category.

The award, established in memory of Dr. Béla Flerkó and his wife, Dr. Vera Bárdos, former director and former colleague of the Institute of Anatomy of the University of Pécs, is open to anatomists, endocrinologists, and neuroendocrinologists.

The call for nominations does not, of course, say that members of KOKI staff are given priority, but looking at the list of winners - at least so far - anyone might have similar thoughts.

The senior and junior categories were first awarded in 2019. The winner was Csaba Fekete, head of the Integrative Neuroendocrinology Group at our institute. The following year Krisztina Kovács, head of the Molecular Endocrinology Group won. Moreover, that year we also had a special prize winner, Csaba Cserép, a senior researcher in the Neuroimmunology group. Although we did not have a winner in two thousand and twenty-one, the following year Katalin Skrapits, a talented young researcher in the Reproductive Neurobiology group, triumphed in the junior category, and this year her group leader Erik Hrabovszky received the award at the annual congress of the Hungarian Society of Anatomy in Pécs on 22 June 2023.

We congratulate Erik Hrabovszky on his award and wish him and his group, but also all the participants in the high level neuroendocrine research at KOKI, continued success!
