Metabolic Phenotyping and body composition analysis

To understand the regulation of energy homeostasis, we perform metabolic phenotyping using Phenomaster Metabolic Unit (TSE).
The metabolic cages of this unit allow precise measurement of food and water intake and locomotor activity. Determination of oxygen usage and CO2 emission of animals with indirect calorimetry allows calculation of energy expenditure and respiratory exchange ratio and estimation of resting energy expenditure. We use EchoMRI 700 to determine the body composition of animals (Lean body mass, fat mass, water content) without anesthesia.
