Congratulations to Krisztina Kelemen on the publication of her first author paper!

The study compares the effect of brivaracetam and levetiracetam in a kainic acid rat model of temporal lobe epilepsy. Histological alterations involving the number of microglial, astrocytic, and neuronal cells were assessed in key brain regions of the epileptic circuitry, namely, the hippocampus, amygdala, piriform cortex, endopiriform nucleus and paraventricular thalamic nucleus.

Krisztina first joined our lab as a university student in 2016. Since then she persued a medical career becoming a neurologist, however, she also started her PhD studies. She also remained in contact with our group and our PI is her co-supervisor. Krisztina is doing her doctoral studies at the Doctoral School of George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Târgu Mureș in Romania.
