At its 197th General Assembly, the Presidium of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences awarded the Academy Prize to Ádám Dénes, head of the Neuroimmunology research group, for his versatile and highly successful scientific activities. Hearty congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

At the XXIV Carpathian Basin Conference of Scientific Student Circles, Emil Koplányi, mentored by Dr. Imre Kalló, won the Grand Prize in the Theoretical and Experimental Medicine section of the Performed Research Block. Congratulations!

Academician László Acsády, who, together with his team at our institute, initiated and brought to world-class recognition the research of the thalamus, one of the main communication partners of the cerebral cortex, received the Talentum Prize, founded by the National Academy of Scientist Education, on 15 April 2024.

Richter Gedeon Plc. and KOKI have been working together successfully for decades, but on 5 April 2024 they held their first joint, and international, press conference. 

We are a neuroscience research institute, and we all agree that there is no innovation without basic research. But that doesn't mean we don't have people who contribute to making this basic research even more effective through instrument and software development. Take Femtonics, for example!  

Balázs Hangya presented the first results of his ERC Proof of Concept grant, awarded in May 2023, at the 1st Mouse-to-human Workshop at KOKI on 16 February 2024. The audience came not only from Budapest but also from the countryside.  

For at least two weeks now, the birds have been announcing more and more enthusiastically every dawn that it may rain, it may blow, it may cool, Spring is still here, wake up!

In the first week of February, a pretty poster appeared in the elevators of KOKI, followed by a circular inviting everyone to a board game night. The so far unthinkable event took place on 13 February, and the next one will be on 4 March. 

In the world, everybody can observe something different that might be worth a try. I was invited to Austria's second-largest university for a Ph.D. defense and a lecture in Graz, the capital of Styria. 

The Hungarian Neuroscience Society (MITT), founded on 21 January 1993, held its first conference just thirty years ago. The conference took place in Pécs, Hungary, and was chaired by Professor László Lénárd, the first President of the MITT. The venue of this year's conference was again the University of Pécs, with Professor István Hernádi from Pécs as President of the MITT and Professors Zsuzsanna Helyes and Dóra Zelena as Chairpersons of the INC2024 (International Neuroscience Conference), organized by the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Pécs on 25-26 January.
