The MITT/ANA, a joint conference of the Hungarian and Austrian neuroscience societies, was preceded by a separate but related event.  This was HuNDoC, a national conference for young researchers organized independently by young researchers. It was the sixth in a row.  

The discovery of Beáta Sperlágh's group may be key to understanding the mechanisms underlying critical periods of normal brain development. The study was published in The Journal of Neuroscience.

Balázs Rózsa and his team, researchers from the BrainVisionCenter (BVC), in collaboration with the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel and Pázmány Péter University, have discovered previously unknown features of neuronal plasticity in the hippocampus of awake animals. Their work was published in Nature Communications.

Researchers at KOKI, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, and the BrainVisionCenter (BVC), founded in 2021 by Botond Roska, Balázs Rózsa, and ITM, in collaboration with colleagues at Washington University in St. Louis, have described a previously unidentified, cortical-wide principle that contributes to the success of early learning.

A study published in Nature Neuroscience, with Nóri Hádinger as the first co-author, describes a new cortico-thalamic pathway.

Dear young students and scientists,We are excited about welcoming you to the sixth Hungarian Neuroscience Doctoral Conference, which will be held on the 31st of January at ELKH TTK Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Budapest.

Balázs Ujfalussy (ELKH KOKI) and Gergő Orbán (ELKH Wigner) discovered that the rodent nervous system can not only predict the position of the animal during orientation but also anticipate the uncertainty of the prediction in the short term. The study has been published in the prestigious international journal eLife.

Using a combination of state-of-the-art physiological and anatomical methods, Zoltán Nusser's group has succeeded in discovering how an axon of the same nerve cell can form synapses of different strengths with two different nerve cells. Short answer: synaptic vesicles are in different maturation states in weak and strong synapses. Their work was published in Neuron.

A member of a scientific academy is expected to have outstanding knowledge and achievements. This is also true when it comes to the pan-European Young Academy of Europe (YAE), of which Csaba Cserép has been a member since August.
