Time has slipped away again.

For many, many years, there was someone here whom we had to get used to retiring, even though he left behind not only his favorite Hitachi electron microscope, but also the microscopists, whom he always willingly helped, even if he sometimes grumbled a little.

He also cleared out his workshop in the courtyard, where he had repaired and adjusted so many things for so many of us, but since he considered KOKI his second home, he regarded most of the people working on the fourth floor, including the regular users of Hitachi, as his family, and he also had a true friend in Feri Alkéri at the reception desk, he would drop in from time to time for a chat. At first more often, then less often, mostly on weekends when Feri was also working. Fortunately, he did not live far away, so even towards the end of the summer, when he was feeling better, we could still meet up with him, even though he was already seriously ill.

We learned of his hospitalization and then his death from Ferenc Alkéri, who did not leave him alone, for which we thank Feri.

I hope we won't have to wait much longer to see the Hitachi tower, which will become a work of art, standing in the space between the statues of Szentágothai and Cajal in the institute's lobby, which will probably remind many of us of him.

Thank you, Győző! Rest in peace!

The image is from a video recording made in 2021. It was taken by Szilvia Kőszegi while Győző Goda was showing her how the Hitachi 7100 electron microscope works.

The photo was taken about the time when he started to work for the IEM.
